Santa Cruz de Tenerife Cruise

Start planning your cruise and book your excursions in Tenerife

Visiting Santa Cruz de Tenerife means indulging yourself in choosing between an unmatched cultural heritage and a unique natural legacy, as well as black sand beaches surrounded by palm trees and trendy venues. An MSC Mediterranean Cruise will take you to this bustling land.

An MSC Cruise will stop in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, an archipelago of volcanic origin, consisting of 7 more larger and other smaller islands. Santa Cruz, the capital of the island of Tenerife, stands in a beautiful bay. You will be greeted by two monuments: the old Castle of San Juan Bautista and the new auditorium by the architect Calatrava.

Nature dominates Santa Cruz, and during an MSC Excursion, you will have the opportunity to be immersed in it. The destination will be the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Teide National Park, which best characterises Tenerife with its greenery and one of the most spectacular volcanic phenomena in the world. Scattered with cones, lava flows and caves that contribute to the scientific and scenic appeal of the area it is home to a wealth of flora and fauna exclusive to the Canary Islands. An adventurous trek will enable you to experience all this.

Nature also reigns at the zoo of Loro Parque, located in Puerto de la Cruz, a stopping point on another MSC Excursion. First opened in 1972, it accommodates a reserve of animals and plants of different species. You can explore all the sections of the zoo including the botanical garden where you can admire an array of orchids of different shapes and colours, the aquarium that offers themed performances using the water directly from the ocean, and the Planeta Penguin that reproduces a miniature polar environment suitable for hosting penguins. Furthermore, at Loro Parque, you can get close to dolphins, killer whales and many other animals.

The island of Tenerife is also entwined with history, and one of the MSC Excursions will take you to discover San Cristóbal de La Laguna, its former capital. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city has religious buildings, ancient palaces, and beautiful villas. Of particular interest are the Cathedral, the Leal Theatre, and the church of Nuestra Senõra de la Concepción, whose tower is the symbol of the city. The itinerary includes a visit to the Casa Lercaro, the residence of the homonymous family of Genoese origin, home of the Museum of History and Anthropology, specialised in securing accounts of the traditional ways of life of the inhabitants of this Canary Island.
